教材分析

 

藝術(shù)與文學(xué)是語(yǔ)言學(xué)習(xí)的一種最高的境界。對(duì)于藝術(shù)與文學(xué)的奧秘,針對(duì)高一的學(xué)生來(lái)說(shuō),只能略窺幽癮, 作些提示。本單元的中心話(huà)題就是“藝術(shù)”與“文學(xué)”,具體涉及繪畫(huà)、電影、戲劇、音樂(lè)會(huì)、小說(shuō)等內(nèi)容,語(yǔ)言知識(shí)教學(xué)和語(yǔ)言技能訓(xùn)練都是圍繞這些話(huà)題展開(kāi)的。通過(guò)閱讀《哈利波特》和“魔術(shù)”的簡(jiǎn)介一文,引導(dǎo)學(xué)生了解本世紀(jì)初風(fēng)靡全球的小說(shuō)電影“哈利波特”使學(xué)生了解到英國(guó)作家羅琳充滿(mǎn)神奇的摩法世界和系列小說(shuō)《哈利波特》的內(nèi)容以及主人公哈利波特的生活、學(xué)習(xí),性格與信念。

導(dǎo)入

 

模塊一:中外名曲導(dǎo)入

 

Play two pieces of famous Chinese and foreign music and let the students to tell the names of the music and writers of the two compositions. The teacher leads in the topic Art and Literature while the students enjoy the art of music such as “Symphonic Music” written by Beethven and “Liang Shanpbo and Zhu yingtai” written by Chen Zhangang.

模塊二:世界名畫(huà)導(dǎo)入

 

Show the students four world famous paintings and let them guess the names of the works and their painters. Now the teacher can tell them that these paintings are also a kind of art, then lead in the topic “Art and Literature”.

模塊三:電影《哈利-波特》導(dǎo)入

 

Watch the film carefully and tell me which is Harry Potter ? What kind of the person is he? Do you like him? Why? Students’ answers: Ho, that handsome boy. He is a kind , brave and justice boy. We like him very much. …….The teacher declares that he is the heroine we are going to talking about then lead in the topic Harry Potter.

1.It is a world of magic and wonders, a world where anything can happen.

這是一個(gè)充滿(mǎn)魔術(shù)和奇觀的世界,這個(gè)世界任何事情都可能發(fā)生.

a world of 一個(gè)……的世界;許多.如:This is a world of competition 這是一個(gè)充滿(mǎn)競(jìng)爭(zhēng)的世界.

There’s a world of difference between promise and achievement.在承諾和履行諾言之間往往相差甚遠(yuǎn),句中第二個(gè)a world是同位語(yǔ),可用代詞one代替.又如:He is a simple man, a man(=one)who always cares for others.他是一個(gè)樸素的人,一個(gè)總是關(guān)心別人的人。

 

2.His parents are dead and he lives with a family that treats him badly.

他的父母雙亡,他和一個(gè)虐待他的家庭生活.

Treat sb. well/badly對(duì)某人態(tài)度不好/不好.如:Many blacks are treated well in America現(xiàn)在在美國(guó)許多黑人都有很好的待遇.

treat…as …把……當(dāng)……對(duì)待.如:She treats me as her own daughter. 她把我當(dāng)親生女兒看待. Treat sb. to sth.用某物款待某人.如:I’ll treat you to some good wine.我會(huì)用好酒招待你.

 

3.He makes new friends and learns how important and difficult it is to be a good friend.

他結(jié)交新朋友,而且知道作為一個(gè)好朋友是多么重要和多么不容易.

Make friends with sb.與某人交上朋友(=make a friend of sb.).如:I never make friends with those who are greedy.我從不和那些貪婪的人交友.be friend with 是……的朋友(=be a friend of sb.).如:I have been friends with him for ages.我跟他是多年的朋友。Make enemies with sb.與某人樹(shù)敵。如:Soon he made lots of enemies.很快他有了許多敵人。

 

4.His friends help him when he is in trouble, but he must also be strong and help them when they need him.

他有困難時(shí)朋友會(huì)幫他,而他也必須堅(jiān)強(qiáng),在朋友需要時(shí)也能幫助他們。

Be in trouble 在困境中。如:Please turn to me whenever you’re in trouble. 有麻煩時(shí)請(qǐng)找我。Get into trouble .陷入困境; get sb. into trouble 使某人陷入困境。如:He got himself into trouble by saying nasty words.他由于講臟話(huà)而惹上麻煩。Be out of trouble/get out of trouble擺脫困境。

 

5.harry also learns to be brave and to do things he used to be afraid of.

哈利也要學(xué)會(huì)勇敢,做以前害怕做的事。

1)(that)he used to be afraid of 作定語(yǔ)從句,修飾先行詞things.

2)Used to+動(dòng)原意“過(guò)去經(jīng)常……”。如:He used to be late, didn’t/usedn’t he? 他過(guò)去經(jīng)常遲到,不是嗎?

There used to be a tall tree here.過(guò)去這有棵大樹(shù)(現(xiàn)在不存在了)。

3)be afraid of (doing) sth.害怕做某事(強(qiáng)調(diào)結(jié)果)。Be afraid to do sth.害怕去干某事(強(qiáng)調(diào)過(guò)程)。如:he is afraid to speak English in public, because he is afraid of being laughed at.他不敢在公共場(chǎng)合講英語(yǔ),因?yàn)閾?dān)心被人嘲笑。

 

6.He learns the truth about his past, a dark secret that will make his life and his choices more difficult.

他了解到自己過(guò)去的一些真相,一個(gè)嚴(yán)守著秘密,他的生活和他的選擇也因此會(huì)變得艱難。

1)句中a dark secret (= a secret that is closely guarded )意指上句中的the truth ,作同位語(yǔ),其后接由引導(dǎo)的定語(yǔ)從句。That 在從句中作主語(yǔ),故不能省略。

2)learn about 了解到 ( = know about ).如:I have learned a lot about his college life.我了解到他大學(xué)生活的很多方面。

3)make + 賓 +形容詞意為“使得……”如:What he said made all of us disappointed.他的話(huà)使我們大家都失望。Be made +形容詞意為“被弄得……”。如:The floor was soon made dirty after the children returned from school.在孩子們放學(xué)回家后地板很快就弄臟了。

 

7.--- the adventures Harry comes across --- help him understand the real world.哈利遇上的那些冒險(xiǎn)活動(dòng)幫助他明白這個(gè)真正的世界。

1)句中包含一個(gè)定語(yǔ)從句。(that) Harry comes across, 修飾先行詞 adventures.

2)Come across 偶然發(fā)現(xiàn)或遇見(jiàn)(see sb. / sth. By chance).如:Don’t stop to refer to your dictionary whenever you come across a new word.不要一看見(jiàn)生詞就翻字典。

Come across 原意為“走過(guò)”。如:Come across to my office this afternoon.今天下午到我辦公室來(lái)。

 

8.Harry has to fight against bad wizards and do the right things.

哈利不得不和壞巫婆作斗爭(zhēng),伸張正義。

Fight against 與……對(duì)抗。如: The whole nation are uniting to fight against SARS全民族團(tuán)結(jié)一心,共同對(duì)抗非典型肺炎。Against 有“與……相對(duì)/相反;防備”之意,故經(jīng)常有下列表達(dá):be against one’s opinion 反對(duì)某人意見(jiàn);go against nature 違抗自然;vote against 投票反對(duì);against the sky在天空映襯下; sit against the wall 靠墻坐著;save against a rainy day未雨綢繆; compete against與人競(jìng)爭(zhēng);defend sb. against …保衛(wèi)某人不受……侵犯。

 

9.You must believe in what you do and who you are… 你必須相信自己做的事和自己身份……believe in 信賴(lài);信任。它表示對(duì)人或物各方面的信任(have a trust in sb. /sth),而believe只表示相信某人的話(huà)或一些表面的東西。如:I believe him ,but I don’t believe in him.我相信他的話(huà),但我并不信任他. You must believe in yourself.你一定要自信。

 

10.Where someone is born and what a person looks like is not as important as what he or she grows up to be.

一個(gè)人的出生地和他/她的相貌并不和他/他長(zhǎng)大后干什么一樣重要。

該句是一個(gè)比較復(fù)雜的復(fù)合句。Where someone is born and what a person looks like是主句中兩個(gè)并列的主語(yǔ)從句,what he or she grows up to be.是比較狀語(yǔ)從句中的主語(yǔ)從句,省略了謂語(yǔ)is important. Be not as…as…=be not so…as… 不和……一樣……

 

11.“Did you hear that?” she whispered

“你剛才聽(tīng)到那個(gè)了嗎?”她小聲問(wèn)。

whisper低語(yǔ);whisper sth . to sb.耳語(yǔ)。對(duì)某人低聲說(shuō)出某事。

如: The news was soon whispered to our village.消息很快傳到我們村。

 

12.It sounded like a woman crying.

聽(tīng)起來(lái)像是一個(gè)女人在哭。

sound like聽(tīng)起來(lái)像,后接名詞、代詞或動(dòng)名詞,如:When the earthquake happens, It sounds like a train going under the ground.地震發(fā)生時(shí),好像是有火車(chē)在地下經(jīng)過(guò)。

Sound as if 聽(tīng)起來(lái)似乎。后接句子,有時(shí)用虛擬語(yǔ)氣,如:His voice sounds as if he were a foreigner.他的聲音聽(tīng)起來(lái)是外國(guó)人的。其他類(lèi)似:look like/as if 看起來(lái)像。Smell like /as聞起來(lái)像,taste like/ as if 嘗起來(lái)像。

 

13.If only they could find a way to get the room, or whatever it was, behind the wall.

要是他們能找到通往那個(gè)房間的路那該多好,或無(wú)論是什么地方,只要在墻后面就行。

If only… 要是……多好,該結(jié)構(gòu)使用虛擬語(yǔ)氣,與I wish 用法同。如:If only I were you! 要是我是你多好!If only I had followed your advice! 要是我早聽(tīng)了你的話(huà)多好!if only I would go to college tomorrow!要是我明天能上大學(xué)多好!

比較:only if 只有在……條件下,

如: You will succeed only if you study hard.只要努力你會(huì)成功的。

 

14.He was just about to say something when Helen turned around.他正要開(kāi)口說(shuō)話(huà),就在那時(shí)海倫轉(zhuǎn)過(guò)身來(lái)。

Be about to …when…正要……突然……

When 用做連詞,連接兩個(gè)并列句,相當(dāng)于and then / and at that time .

如:We were about to start off when it rained hard.我們正要出發(fā),天突然下起大雨。
