用法不同：
about：
在指“不久就要……”時(shí)，后通常接不定式，如about to start。也有接動(dòng)名詞，如about starting。但是不可再加表示時(shí)間的詞，如不可說(shuō)about starting at once；
指“大約”的意思時(shí)，表達(dá)方式有about ten，about half等。注意ten和half都是明確的數(shù)量，about不該用在“多少不定”的詞前，如about more than ten，about less than half；
與at搭配使用時(shí)，about是副詞，沒(méi)有at時(shí)，about 是介詞。句中可有at，也可沒(méi)有，意思相同。
Tell me all about it.
告訴我關(guān)于這件事的一切。
It is about six o'clock now.
現(xiàn)在是六點(diǎn)鐘左右。
of：
直接源自古英語(yǔ)的of；最初源自原始日耳曼語(yǔ)的af，意為離開(kāi)，分開(kāi)。
I have heard of him.
我聽(tīng)說(shuō)過(guò)他。
This is a photograph of my dog.
這是一張我的狗的照片。
